Mr. Warlan is responsible for managing the execution and implementation of equity investments across all Third Avenue portfolios. His primary responsibilities include U.S., non-U.S., and emerging market equities, derivatives, and currencies. Leading Third Avenue’s Global Trading Desk, he has expanded access to multiple markets, venues, and strategies, along with the capabilities to trade additional asset classes including currencies and derivatives.
Mr. Warlan joined Third Avenue and its affiliates in 1998, focusing on institutional and high yield sales, moving into various roles including private debt and trade claim trading. In 2001, he joined the equity trading desk where he developed trading capabilities in non-U.S. markets. Subsequently, Mr. Warlan took on the leadership role of Third Avenue’s Global Trading Desk.
Mr. Warlan graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1998 with a B.A. in Government. He is a member of The Securities Traders Association of New York.
Clay Bernabeo
Equities Trader
Mr. Bernabeo works on Third Avenue’s Global Trading Desk executing domestic and foreign equity trades through brokers in the U.S. and around the world. He joined Third Avenue in 2001 as part of the operations team and started trading in 2004.
Mr. Bernabeo has a B.S. in Economics with a specialization in Finance from Rutgers University.
Robert Sherman
Distressed and Fixed Income Trader
Mr. Sherman joined Third Avenue’s Global Trading Desk in 2012 after 26 years working with fixed income investments. He is the former Head of Trading for Plainfield Asset Management, an alternative investment company founded by veterans of the D.E. Shaw Group.
He has held senior high yield sales positions at Deutsche Bank, RBC Capital Markets,
Gleacher Natwest, Bankers Trust and Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette.
Mr. Sherman holds a B.S. from Union College and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University.

Christopher LaRegina
Trader
Mr. LaRegina helps find the best global execution for Third Avenue's orders as part of the investment company's global trading desk. He joined Third Avenue in 2007 after working as a junior trader at Swiss American Securities, which is part of the Credit Suisse Group. He has also worked for Bloomberg L.P. in brokerage sales for Tradebook and as a financial analyst.
Mr. LaRegina holds a B.S. in Marketing with an emphasis in Management from the University of Scranton.
